After drawing inspiration from the bamboo plant symbology, we embraced how much bamboo can actually do to help draw down (sequester) the world’s epidemic release of carbon from the atmosphere. Bamboo is, hands down, a supremely renewable and sustainable natural resource and even hold the Guinness World Record for the fastest growing plant.

In promoting our cause to inspire conscious empowerment of communities and households, we embrace organic living and share our passion for the environment in formal and informal training and education sessions.

what we do

1. organic soil reHABILITATION

Soil wouldn’t be soil without the life in it. When you remove the life from soil, it becomes dirt or sand, and plant-vitality suffer.

How often have you been told that all that matters for your soil is nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium (NPK)?

These 3 are the so-called “big 3” primary nutrients found in commercial fertilizers.

Most soil tests focus on these 3 along with other important micro-nutrients, like calcium, magnesium, iron, and other chemical parameters depending on the soil test.

We’ve been led to believe that all we need to do to revive dirt and turn it into soil, is to buy commercial soil amendments which mostly focus on these micro-nutrients/elements. After all, nothing that lives van be kept and sold in airtight bottles and bags, for obvious reasons.

These soil tests consequently are all missing out on the single most important element of healthy soil… which are the living organisms that collectively make up and help create luscious healthy soil.

Ever wondered why you have to reapply inorganic fertilisers each year...

why use biochar?

It is common fact:
Unbalanced Soils which are low in organic life cannot continuously sustain healthy and productive plant life...

Organic BioCHAR nuggets have a fantastic large surface area relative to small particle size.

Because at around 300 square meter per every gram of BioCHAR, the microscopically massive lavish living spaces house hundreds of millions of essential living micro organisms and the resultant macro & micro nutrients for plants these micro organisms continuously create.

BioCHAR further act like carbon sponges that also serve as moisture storage vessels in your soil, helping to keep moisture levels in your soil more constant.

This carbon sponge-like action help that those crucial macro- & micro elements, and the nutrients created by those living organisms habitual within the BioCHAR blend in your soil, are not simply washed out by tropical rain falls every time.

HOW to use biochar

For small areas in your garden or pots:
Simply mix the contents of our conveniently sized 3,6lt BioCHAR sachet with one standard 30dm bag of compost before adding to your herbs, veggies or flowers.

For very nutrient depleted soils (or plants in pots) you can add 2 bags of our BioCHAR per every standard bag of compost, doubling up the effectiveness and resilience.

Since the BioCHAR structure is pure Carbon which is sequestered back into the soil, application is only needed as a once off and will continue to serve the soil Microbiology for a long long time.

For best results when doubling up, you can further super boost the microbiology in the mix by further adding 500mls live organic liquid fertilizer (eg; compost tea) to the BioCHAR and soak for 2 days before mixing into the compost.

Simple calculation for larger areas like lawns
For every 1 square meter of lawn (1m x 1m and spread as a carpet 3cm thick with a BioCHAR & compost mixture:

Mix 2 bags of BioCHAR per 1 bag of std compost and apply accordingly (1m x 1m x 3cm).

As always, it's best to apply at the beginning of the growth season or when establishing new gardens.

WHAT IS biochar?

Biochar is a carbon-rich material made from biomass through a thermochemical conversion process known as pyrolysis in highly controlled oxygen free environments.

By varying heat, air pressure, or oxygen levels, the properties of biomass can be transformed, resulting in solid materials (actually useful Carbon) with it’s new properties.

So in short, Biochar is produced by pyrolysis of biomass in the absence of oxygen and is then used for soil amelioration.

Storage instructions

"We are happy to wait a week or so before you use us, so if you need us to wait a bit before spreading the love on your favourite potplant or veggie patch, please keep us open so we can breathe.

Keeping us out of direct sunlight will also help us getting parched. When we do look a tad dry, just gently moist using natural water and we are good as rain."
